Minor Classical Studies

Studying dynamic and influential ancient Mediterranean civilizations is exciting in its own right, and valuable also for the historical perspective it contributes to understanding our world today.

Students pursuing a classical studies minor gain exposure to Greek and Roman civilization from a cross-disciplinary perspective, including language, literature, culture, history, and archaeology. Classical studies minors must take an introductory class in either Latin or Greek, which can also apply toward a college-level foreign language requirement. Beyond the first-semester language course, students may choose from coursework offered in classical civilization and ancient history, covering the full breadth of the classical world.
