UTeach Theatre (Theatre Studies)
Major in the College of Fine Arts
UTeach Theatre, the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Education degree plan, is a nationally recognized, pre-professional program for students interested in teaching theatre at the high school, middle school or elementary school level.
Outstanding faculty offer students a comprehensive curriculum in theatre, drama, technical theatre and educational methods combined with in-depth field and student teaching experiences.
The B.F.A. in Theatre Education degree plan leads to K-12 theatre teacher certification.
There are more than 20 performance opportunities each year for students majoring in theatre. Many productions are student-produced, providing opportunities to develop new skills as directors, writers, production managers, designers and dramaturgs.
Freshman and External Transfer Admission
ShowAll freshmen applicants must submit their ApplyTexas applications by December 1. Transfer applicants must submit their application by March 1. The Department will only consider applicants who list our majors as a "first choice." Applicants may check the status of their application and update their selections through their MyStatus page.
All applicants must also submit a College of Fine Arts Application and Prescreen Materials. Select applicants may be invited to attend an in-person or virtual callback interview/audition. The portal to submit a College of Fine Arts application will be accessible via the applicant’s MyStatus portal after submitting the Common Application.
Internal Transfer Requirements
