Major in the College of Liberal Arts
The Center for European Studies (CES) offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate program in European Studies, as well as numerous opportunities for students to get involved with the Center's work in promoting an appreciation and understanding of Europe in and around the Austin area.
European Studies (EUS) students learn one or more modern European languages; gain an in-depth understanding of European culture, history, economics, business, and politics through the multidisciplinary curriculum; and deepen their interests by studying and often interning abroad. All EUS majors complete capstone research projects, which provide students with research and writing skills. Resources are available for students interested in studying, interning, and working abroad.

How to Declare

Personality
ShowEnjoy adventure and travel? European Studies may be for you. Every European Studies major is required to study abroad in Western or Central Europe; you can go on a Maymester, a summer program, or for a longer period. In many cases, you may even get a stipend to help with the costs! European Studies is an interdisciplinary major geared to appeal those who seek flexibility in their learning experience.
Skills
ShowEuropean Studies majors, like all Liberal Arts students, are trained to think critically, write cogently, and to research thoroughly and methodically. All acquire familiarity and some acquire proficiency in at least two European languages, which is important for those wishing to travel or work in Europe.
