Take Classes in the Center for Integrated Design!

Center for Integrated Design (CID) offers 5-week and full semester courses in Design Thinking that are open to ALL students and majors. At the Center for Integrated Design, they believe that the methods and mindsets of Design can be integrated into any discipline to amplify solutions that are more creative, empathetic, equitable, and impactful. They believe that Design is the key to creating solutions to real-world problems, and improving the world around us.

ITD 150 Responsible AI Design Post-COVID, Unique: 22320
Day/Time: Thursday 6:00-9:00pm Dates: Sept 30-Oct 28 Carries Ethics Flag

This 5-week class will allow UT students to experience a live cloud based prototype of a rogue AI vs responsible system, as well as hearing from speakers from companies like American Express, Department of Defense, Microsoft, and IBM. The course is taught by entrepreneur and educator Manoj Saxena who was the inaugural manager of IBM’s AI system Watson.

ITD 150 Design for Healing, Unique: 22317
Day/Time: Tuesday 4:00-7:00pm Dates: Oct 5-Nov 2

In this class, students will explore how we might heal from the trauma of our lives and how design moves us toward belonging and discuss how we might see if we looked to creativity and design as a way to nurture and heal us from our suffering. Scott Shigeoka was a leader at the design firm IDEO, a writer for outlets like The Washington Post, a music festival founder, and immersive art creator who’s pushing the boundaries of what we think of as design. ITD 150 Storytelling for Influence, Unique: 22330
Day/Time: Tuesday 5:00-8:00pm Dates: Aug 31-Sept 28

Storytelling is one of the world’s most accessible and powerful tools for achieving astonishing results. Stories humanize data, build empathetic connections, define great leaders, and inspire others. We will examine the role of storytelling in the user-centered design process and explore the principles that drive influential stories.

Day/Time: Wednesday 6:00-9:00pm Dates: Sept 30-Oct 28

This class will explore the idea of design and innovating a festival. Think Coachella and Lollapalooza. Taught by Jared Culp, lead product designer at Netflix.
