Minor In Disability Studies

Whether you're considering pursuing a career in the arts, law, architecture, business, or health, pursuing a minor in disability studies will allow you to engage in both an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspective, strengthening your understanding of your field of interest.

Disability Studies focuses on how disability is constructed, viewed, and understood culturally, politically, economically, and socially. People living with disabilities and their experiences are integral to what we learn and understand about the world; the disability studies minor allows students to focus upon an area of interest or design a broad-based minor by taking an array of courses in various disciplines. Focused tracks may include: law, architecture, social work, medical professional, public health official, education, anthropology, business, the arts, and philosophy.

The deadline for admission to the minor is April 5; students seeking more information on the minor can visit the Steve Hicks School of Social Work's website or email Cossy Hough.

Your major does not always determine your career path. Many graduates pursue careers outside their field, depending on their interests and experiences.
