Engage in discussion about social justice through Texas Talks

The Vice President for Student Affairs and The Multicultural Engagement Center have partnered to launch a new discussion series aimed at first-year students. “Texas Talks” is a biweekly series that will give you an opportunity to interface with notable UT faculty and staff and learn about important topics ranging from social justice in the historical context of UT, campus climate and current events, and ways to move forward as a community.

Their goal is to help you understand UT’s past, present, and gain tools to help improve our university’s future. You will walk away from each session with a greater understanding of UT/Austin history, dialogue with your peers on current issues, and feeling empowered to help the university community move towards positive change.

While the content is geared towards first-year students at UT, Longhorns of all classifications are welcome to participate if they are interested. Discussions will take place every other Tuesday from 6-7 PM. The next discussion is on September 22, and the series ends on November 17. If you’re interested, you can register on Hornslink.

MAJOR ≠ CAREER

Your major does not always determine your career path. Many graduates pursue careers outside their field, depending on their interests and experiences.

EXPERIENCE + DEGREE = CAREER

It’s not just your major that matters! Make yourself marketable by gaining a variety of experiences in college. Read a few inspiring stories by professionals whose experiences led to great careers.
